Objectives of Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme
- To offer modern quality education including cultural and physical development.
- Focused on rural children with free lodging, boarding, uniforms, and books.

Eligibility Criteria for NVS Class 6 Admission 2026
- Student must be studying in Class V in the academic session 2025-26 in a recognized school.
- Candidate must be a resident of the district where the JNV is located.
- Age Limit: Candidate must be born between 01 May 2014 and 31 July 2016 (both dates inclusive).
- Must have studied and passed Classes III, IV, and V from a government or recognized school.
- Students who have already appeared for JNVST earlier are not eligible to apply again.
Rural & Urban Reservation Rules
- 75% seats are reserved for rural students.
- Candidates who have studied in rural schools in classes III, IV, and V are eligible for rural quota.
- Studying in an urban school for even one day disqualifies from rural category.
- Candidates from NIOS must provide residence certificate to claim rural/urban status.
